Your Daily Dose of Inspiration:
When we are examining God’s goodness, we must start by understanding with whom we are dealing. We do not believe in a created God; our God has always been. That is why, when He introduced Himself to Moses, He gave the name, “I AM THAT I AM.” He is the only being to have the source of His existence within Himself. He is fully self-sufficient, He is not dependent on anyone, or anything else. He is because of Himself, and all created things are because of Him.
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was in the beginning with God. (3) All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
God is the source of all created things; how then can we judge His goodness? That would be like telling the architect of the Empire State Building that he built it incorrectly because it doesn’t look like a picture that we drew. If God is who He says He is, if He is the source of all things, the creator of our universe, then we don’t get to tell Him what is good and what is not. For any concept that we have of goodness comes from Him.
