Your Daily Dose of Inspiration:
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—
If a branch is removed from a tree, what happens to it? It dies. So it is with all who are separated from God by sin. God is the source of life, what else can be expected to happen if we are separated from that source? This is the ultimate consequence of our sin, and Adam and Eve did not have to wait long to see it.
Genesis 4:8 Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.
We see how quickly sin infiltrated the heart of man. They experienced immediate shame, were separated from God, and now their lives were ended. All of these things are against the purpose and plan of God for humanity. He created man to live in His presence with peace and joy for all of eternity, but sin destroys this great and good purpose. This is why it is amazing that we Christians, who should know the truth, do not understand the true weight of sin. We fall into the same mindset as the rest of the world and think that if we don’t do anything too bad then we can still get to heaven, being ignorant that we have allowed sin to reign within us.
Romans 6:12-16 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. (13) Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. (14) For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. (15) What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! (16) Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
I warn you this morning, if there is sin in your life and you do not address it, it will lead you into death. If we are in submission to sinful temptations, then we are not in submission to God and therefore are slaves of sin unto death.
James 1:14-15 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. (15) Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
