Your Daily Dose of Inspiration:
So much does God desire that we walk in total healing, that He does not keep that power to Himself. Instead, like a good doctor, He empowers us to walk in that wholeness ourselves and to spread it to all around us.
Matthew 10:1 “And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.”
That power and authority to bring total healing is given to the children of God. That is a great and wonderful gift, but to whom much is given, much is required. Notice that Christ did not give us such power for our benefit alone but gave it with a purpose. And this is another reason why I think healing makes people uncomfortable. Because if healing is God’s will and is present in us, then we have a responsibility to do something with it.
James 5:13-16 “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. (14) Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. (15) And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (16) Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
Nothing is given without purpose. If God has given us the power to walk in healing, then there is a purpose to it. Jesus was driven by compassion for the sick and was determined to bring relief to them. That same compassion should drive us. You will find that the closer you get to the heart of Christ, the more that you are driven by that same compassion.
