Your Daily Dose of Inspiration:
Eze 37:5-6 Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. (6) And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the LORD.
Notice that those bones did nothing to call life to themselves. There was nothing they could have done to be made alive. The dead can do nothing. So it is with us. We could not make ourselves alive, only God could. You cannot make yourself acceptable, you cannot make yourself righteous. All there is for you to do is to choose whether or not to receive the work which Christ has done.
John 1:12-13 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, (13) who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
Saying all that is required of us is to receive His work may sound too easy, but it is not. Consider how few received Him when He was on Earth. John tells us that His own people rejected Him. Indeed, the Word says that most people will not receive Him. For the act of receiving Christ involving the releasing of ourselves. We cannot retain our current life if we want the life which Christ offers. If one wants to wear new clothes, you must first remove your old ones. Christ will help you to set aside that old life, but you must be willing to let it go.
