God has spent all of history since the fall of man, calling us back to Him. He desires us to live within all that is good. He wants you to have the very best life possible, and He knows that it can only be had in Him. That is why Jesus was constantly telling people that they needed to give up their own lives and take up His. For only in Him could that true, good, and complete life be found.
Mat 16:24-25 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. (25) For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
John 6:51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.
