Your Daily Dose of Inspiration:
Philippians 2:5-7 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, (6) who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, (7) but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
This mentality of servanthood is the mind that we are to have. Christ showed us that is it not shameful to serve, rather it is a great honor. Indeed, He made Himself the lowest of all so that when God exalted Him, we might all participate in that exaltation. Think about it, the Lord of all Creation knelt down and washed the feet of His followers. The job of washing feet was given to the lowest slaves of that day, and yet our Lord and Savior took that upon Himself. How can we do any different? Are we too prideful to surrender our will? Are we too prideful to make ourselves slaves of righteousness, and servants of all?
We are, each of us, slaves. Either of sin which leads to death, or of righteousness which leads to life everlasting. This is not an insult; it is a statement of reality. Unlike the slaves of men, however, we choose whom we will serve. I urge you, choose life. Submit yourselves to the Lord and refuse the bondage of sin.
John 12:26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
Consider where Christ is, at the right hand of the Father. Do you desire to be with Christ in Heaven? Then you must serve Him. For whoever serves Him will be with Him wherever He is. I want to be with Christ. Therefore, I will say, “I love my master, I will not go out free. Take me to the doorpost and drive through my ear with an awl. For I will be His forever.”
