Your Daily Dose of Inspiration:
Christ is now exalted, but only because He humbled Himself. He did not seek to glorify Himself but sought the will of the Father and was exalted by Him. John8:54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’ He did not seek the approval and honor of men, but sought the glory of God. John 5:41 I do not receive glory from people. Christ is exalted by the Father and has glory everlasting because of His humility. If Jesus did not have humility, He would not be the Christ. In the same way, If we desire the glory of God and to be exalted by Him, we must begin with humility
Let me say here that it is not prideful or selfish to desire to be exalted by God. Christ desired it, and indeed asked for it. John 17:5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. If Christ was humble in desiring and asking to be exalted by God, then it may be humility for us to do the same. For to desire the praise of the praise worthy is great humility. Is that not what children do with their parents? A child may draw a picture just for the pleasure of it. The child then goes and shows their parent the result of their work. What do we do as parents? We, of course, tell them that they did a very good job and that it is very beautiful. We take the picture a stick it to the fridge so that everyone can see it. This brings great joy to the heart of the child because they did something which pleased the parent they love. So, they rush back to draw more pictures.
Matthew 18:3-4 “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (4) Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven
